travel must haves

Just two days until I leave for vacation and there is some serious packing under way. When it comes to sleeping away from home, I’m like the Princess and the Pea and need extra help getting settled in to a place that’s not my own. I’ve assembled a list of must haves when you travel to make for a seamless and restful trip in your hotel room!

1. Packing Cubes

These make unpacking so incredibly easy. All you have to do is unzip your suitcase and transfer the cubes into the drawers and all the work is done. Everything is organized exactly where you want it!

2. Travel Fan

When sleeping away from home, I seem to hear every noise within a block. I’ve found a compact travel size fan (measures 4.9” x 5.6”) that will fit easily into your suitcase. If you don’t need the extra breeze from the fan (insert heat flashes), you could also add a free sound app to your phone like SleepFan. Just make sure your phone is plugged in overnight or it will drain your battery.

3. Melatonin

I’ve tried many forms of sleep aids over the years, but I think the Natrol Melatonin + 5-HTP works wonders. It tends to keep me asleep longer and I don’t wake up with brain fog.

4. Sound Machine

If you don’t want a fan sound, try the Douni Sound Machine! It has 24 different sounds including ocean, campfire, and thunder. It’s only 2.3” high, so it will fit in even the smallest of carry-ons!

5. Toiletry Bag

I highly recommend one that has a hanging hook and clear sections to easily see everything in the bag. The one I posted from NISHEL is really cute and easily held all of my 17 year old's toiletries for overseas travel.

6. Water Bottle

What is worse than waking up in the middle of the night without a drink by your side? It’s waking up and having to use one of the glasses provided by the hotel! Bring your own water bottle that you KNOW is clean.

It's vaca time ladies!

xx, carrie
